Hi all

About a year ago i came across a blog that was (and still is) written by a guy named David Seah. Mr. Seah is an “investigative Designer”, and his blog is mainly (as far as i can tell) about how media design can ease different working tasks in our daily lives. One of his (in my eyes) most brilliant posts is about his ETP, or Emergent Task Planner. This is a single piece of paper that will give you some boundaries of what you are going to do “today”. The sheet is faily easy to use, but most important of all: You get things done!

This ETP has helped me through countless of hardspots where planning was required. I would like to give a “shout” out to mr. Seah and his incredible work; Thank you Seah, you’ve saved my ass

If you, like me, can have a difficult time planning your day and what tasks you need to do, please take 10 minutes and read his blog post about Emergent Task Planning and download his free to use Planner(its a pdf file):

The Blog: http://davidseah.com

The Post: http://davidseah.com/blog/comments/emergent-task-planner-free-version-updates/

The File in Black and White(PDF): http://davidseah.com/pub/downloads/pceo/etp/PCEO-ETP02-StandardBW.pdf

A new (and maybe improved?) Planner: http://davidseah.com/pub/downloads/pceo/etp/PCEO-ETP01-3HNAW.pdf

I hope this will help you guys as much as it has helped me!

Aaaaaand we’re done!

At 1200 hours Tuesday afternoon we handed in the final build of the game. So far the respons has been very good, and we are looking forward to the evaluation process tomorrow.
You are all more that welcome to try out the game at our homepage www.amazingmonk.dk

It has been very educating to work fulltime as a Game Designer, and I feel that I have learn a LOT. Not only regarding game design as a process, but also the importance of team-roles, and the importance focus/vision. I would like to thank the entire team for their efforts, it has been a huge pleasure working so close together with such dedicated people.

I think we manged to get very close to most of the points in our vision, and mainly to get a very simple gameplay that was very challenging, scalable and finally very polished.

If you would like to take a look at our final vision read on:

Our vision with A Mazing Monk was from the beginning to produce a small compact game, with a high production value. We wanted to produce a finished game in a month with a gaming experience where the gameplay, the visual style, animation, effects, sound and music reach a higher unity thus leaving the player wanting more. A game which takes 10‐15 minutes to complete. The vision was also to make a game with clear feedback about what the player is supposed to do in the game and with lots of payoffs when you do it. It was a part of the vision to create a universe with a cultural edge which isn’t forced but seems light and appealing. Finally we wanted a game concept with a unique gameplay that made the game fun and innovative.

- Horn & Bamboo productions

If you find any bugs, or have any comments feel free to email me.

I know some of you would like to post comments on my forum, but I get SO much spam that sorting through these messages would be quite a headache. I will try to find a way to let you all comment, but its not going to be easy

Try it out: A Mazing Monk (this link takes you to amazingmonk.dk, the official A Mazing Monk Homepage)
Older versions of the game has been taken offline from my site.

Here is the most recent build that we have currently. It is a bit newer than the “publisher”-build that we made for the publisher meeting.

We got pretty good critique, but mainly he was concerned by the logevity of our game. We currently have a lot of plans for this though, but we dont plan to implement any of them here on the DADIU production because we would much more like to polish the gameplay.

The possible gameplay features are endless, and we will make a “vision”-document where we discuss a number of these feautres.
